Position: Live-In Life Skills Coach

Position Duties: The Live-In Life Skills Coach provides quality active supports, care and supervision necessary to help individuals with developmental disabilities realize their full potential while living in a residential home of The Arc of Anchorage. The Life Skills Coach resides in the home with the individuals similar to a normal, family like setting. The Live in Life Skills Coach is responsible for assisting individuals in pursuing their personal dreams and goals related to community activities, social interactions, essential life skills and personal hygiene tasks. The Life Skills Coach ensures the health, safety, and well-being of each individual in the home. Additionally, the Life Skills Coach ensures that the homes are well maintained and cared for. The Life Skills Coach also provides transportation to the individual residents to various outings, appointments or work.
This position may work independently and maintains close contact with the assigned supervisor and the assigned team. The job atmosphere is based on the individuals needs. The worksite for this job will be located in a residential home of The Arc. The Live-In Life Skills Coach may work up to two, three, four or five (24 hour) days.
Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma, GED. Experience in social services and/or direct support of individuals experiencing disabilities preferred. Ability to read and write concisely.
Communication Skills: Must possess ability to communicate effectively in English in both oral and written form. Must possess ability to interact in a professional manner with consumer, family, agency personnel and public. Certain positions may require fluency in American Sign Language or other languages.
Equipment: May require a reliable vehicle.
Certifications and Clearances: Valid Alaska driver's license; clean driving record, will require proof of required liability limits of auto insurance, successful completion of Arc driver training, background check, TB evaluation, current First Aid, CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.
