ADLERIAN THEORY for MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS

Anchorage June 24 ~ July 1 ~ July 8 (on Tuesday) 1-3pm

401 E. Northern Lights Blvd. Suite #100 (Training held in the AYFN/CHOICES Conference Room)

Free Training/Workshop Utilizing the humanistic psychology of Alfred Adler, course emphasis will be on the following: An overview of the theory The general psychodynamics of people labeled mentally ill The Adlerian view of psychosis, neurosis, and personality disorders Techniques used to work with clients Use of the Lifestyle Assessment with clients The interpretation of early recollections Emphasis on schizophrenia and the purpose it serves Lectures, discussion and practice will be the format. Much of Adler’s work is found in modern-day cognitive models. This presentation will take you back to the source and teach you a humane, cogent, common-sense, practical model for dealing with patients. “Off the Rocks” is a project in Anchorage using theater and drama therapy as tools to create a healing process for women in recovery and to increase community awareness about substance abuse. What is a direct service career?

Direct Service Careers provide quality support to adults and children with substances/alcohol issues, with developmental disabilities, with chronic illness and aging, people who experience mental illness, children & youth diagnosed SED (Severely Emotionally Disturbed), someone who has incurred a brain injury, and individuals with co-occurring disorders who need help in order to be self-sufficient.
